Fairfax Youth Festival proudly presents Square Pegged, an immersive and fully-funded creative arts camp that promises to ignite your creativity, self-expression, and confidence.

Designed for teenagers aged 12-18 who are passionate about drama, music, dance, and performance.

Fairfax Youth Festival proudly presents an extraordinary opportunity for young talents to shine on the stage of self-expression and creativity. Square Pegged is an immersive experience that empowers young individuals aged 12-18 to collaborate, learn, and create an original performance from scratch. With fully-funded places for forty participants, this camp invites young people from rural NSW to embark on a unique journey of creative exploration.

Sunday, October 1 - Day 1: All participants arrive. Workshops to Build Connections - Get to know fellow participants, play engaging games, and interact with the public to break the ice. All participants attend a development showing of the new work War of the Worlds by Fleur Kilpatrick performed by Arena Theatre Company, Riverland Youth Theatre and the Fairfax Youth Ensemble.

Monday, October 2 and 3 - Day 2 - Day 3: Exploring Creative Arts - Your teenager will dive into workshops focused on dance, music, and performance, allowing them to develop new skills ignite their creativity, and work with industry professionals. On Tuesday evening, all participants will attend a public screening of The Stories that Make Us, an outdoor cinema event featuring films by and featuring members of the Fairfax Youth Ensemble.

Wednesday, October 4 and 5- Day 4 & 5: Planning and Preparation - Participants will continue to plan the upcoming performance and test-run the performance. The participants will also take place in our big singing event In Full Voice, which is open to the public at a venue to be announced on Wednesday, October 4.

Friday, October 6- Day 6: Dress Rehearsal - The campers will experience a dress rehearsal complete with props and costumes, setting the stage for the final performance. On Friday evening, the participants will attend a public reading of the new work War of the Worlds by Fleur Kilpatrick, performed and read by Arena Theatre Company, Riverland Youth Theatre and the Fairfax Youth Ensemble.

Saturday, October 7 - Day 7: Square Pegged Performance - An exciting showcase where your teenager and their fellow participants take centre stage to present their unique creation to an audience.

Sunday, October 8 -: Final Meeting and Celebration - A wrap-up session to reflect on the experience, share insights, and celebrate the journey.
